ITA – Scicli è un comune in provincia di Ragusa di circa 28.000 abitanti e si estende su una pianura all’interno di tre valli chiamate Cave (le valli di Modica, Santa Maria La Nova e San Bartolomeo). Le sue origini sono antichissime – più di tremila anni fa – e questa energia si percepisce camminando lungo gli stretti vicoli che portano sempre alla vista di un meraviglioso panorama.

Durante il giorno, non solo si sente il calore che penetra nelle ossa, ma anche la luce ha una caratteristica affascinante: è luminosa, chiara, limpida. Non a caso è stata definita una delle città più luminose d’Europa.

EN – Scicli is a municipality in the province of Ragusa of about 28,000 inhabitants and extends over a plain within three valleys called Cave (the valleys of Modica, Santa Maria La Nova, and San Bartolomeo). Its origins are very ancient – more than three thousand years ago – and this energy can be felt when walking along the narrow alleys that always lead to the sight of a marvellous view.

During the day, not only can you feel the warmth penetrating your bones, but also the light has a fascinating characteristic: it is bright, clear, limpid. It is no coincidence that it has been called one of the brightest cities in Europe.

There are many cultural initiatives – known as baroque walks – that accompany tourists but also many citizens to discover anecdotes and re-enactments that recall the many occupations and tell of the many churches, demonstrating a rich territory and crossroads of merchants and patrons. A few kilometres from Modica – 15 km – Ragusa Ibla – 25 km – Noto, Marzamemi – 40 km – but also Siracusa – 80 km and Caltagirone – 80 km.
